Best Private Schools in Baguio 2026 (K-12 & College)

TL;DR: On published licensure results, Saint Louis University is Baguio's strongest private school by a distance — it passed all 242 of its November 2025 nursing examinees and placed in two brackets of the 2025 Bar Examinations. No Baguio private school publishes a schedule of fees, so every peso figure this page used to carry has been removed. And senior high strands no longer exist for incoming Grade 11.

What Changed on This Page

This guide previously carried three sets of numbers: annual tuition tiers for the city, per-university tuition ranges, and monthly boarding costs. All were labelled approximate. None was traceable to any school's published schedule or to any survey.

They have been removed rather than widened. In their place is what can actually be checked: national licensure results, which are published by the PRC and the Supreme Court with every cycle, and the current senior high curriculum rules.

Baguio's Real Track Record

Baguio's reputation rests on Saint Louis University, and unlike most reputations this one shows up in published results.

ExaminationSLU result
Nurses Licensure Examination, November 2025242 of 242 passed (100%)
Bar Examinations, 2025, 51-100 examinee bracket4th, 83.33%
Bar Examinations, 2025, first-time takers, 11-50 bracket2nd, 97.14%
Pharmacists Licensure Examination, November 2025Reported at 301 of 307 (98.05%)

A note on the last row: the PRC publishes its Performance of Schools table for the PhLE as a downloadable file rather than as text, so that figure comes from secondary reporting of the release rather than from the PRC document itself. The nursing and Bar figures are from the PRC and Supreme Court releases directly.

For context, the November 2025 nursing examination passed 90.04% nationally — a record — so SLU's perfect result sits above an unusually high bar, not a low one. The 2025 Bar passed 48.98% nationally.

What this does and does not tell you. It tells you SLU's professional programmes prepare their graduates well and at scale. It does not tell you anything about its basic education arm, its non-board-exam degrees, or the other three universities, none of which appeared in the published brackets we checked. Absence from a top-five list is not evidence of weakness; it is absence of evidence.

The Four Established Private Universities

Our Baguio directory lists fifteen schools in the city, including parish and community K-12 schools that do not appear on any national list.

Senior High in Baguio Works Differently Now

If you are choosing for Grade 11, the advice in most Baguio school guides — including the previous version of this one — is out of date.

DepEd Order No. 017, s. 2026 removed senior high strands. There are now two tracks, Academic and Technical-Professional. Inside the Academic Track there are five clusters of electives: Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities; Business and Entrepreneurship; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics; Sports, Health and Wellness; and Field Experience. The order states that clusters are not strands, because a school need not offer everything inside one and a learner may choose across several.

LearnerStructure that applies
Grade 11 from SY 2026-2027 onwardTwo tracks, no strands, five Academic elective clusters
Grade 12 in a non-pilot school, SY 2026-2027The old tracks and named strands
Grade 12 from SY 2027-2028 onwardNo strands

So the question to a Baguio school is "which electives will you actually run next year, and with how many learners?" A cluster listed on a brochure is not a timetable. Our academic strands guide covers what replaced what.

The voucher matters here more than in Manila. Section 48 and Table 13 of DepEd Order No. 011, s. 2026, effective SY 2026-2027, set the maximum at PHP 20,000 a year in highly urbanised cities outside NCR and PHP 17,500 elsewhere for Categories A, B and C, against PHP 22,500 in NCR, with Categories D and E at PHP 16,000 and PHP 14,000. The school is paid the lower of its total fees or the cap, and nobody qualifies automatically: Categories A to D file at the private senior high school they choose, and only Category E applies through OVAP. For a Cordillera family, that subsidy is frequently a larger number than the gap between two shortlisted schools. See our SHS voucher guide.

How to Compare Baguio Schools Without a Price List

Ask each registrar for the current schedule of fees in writing. Ask whether it is quoted per semester or per year, what the payment options cost, and what sits outside tuition — books, uniforms, laboratory and technology fees, immersion and retreat costs.

Ask for board exam passers and examinees, by cycle, for your programme. Not a passing rate, not "consistently strong". Two numbers, for the last three cycles. Every college knows them.

Check accreditation at programme level. PAASCU and PACUCOA accredit programmes at levels; an institution-level mention is not the same claim.

For healthcare programmes, ask about clinical affiliation. Which hospitals, how rotations are allocated, and whether placement is guaranteed when a cohort is large.

Budget boarding as a school cost, not an extra. For an out-of-town student, rent, food, utilities and transport over a school year can rival tuition. Visit prospective lodgings on the same trip as the campus, get rents in writing, and weight proximity heavily — Baguio's terrain makes a fifteen-minute walk on a map a very different thing in practice.

Visit on a normal school day. Not an open house. Look at the laboratories a science programme claims to have.

Enrollment Basics

Baguio private schools follow the standard cycle, with most activity between March and August. For out-of-town families, arrange boarding alongside enrolment rather than after it. Commonly required:

  • PSA birth certificate
  • Report card and certificate of good moral character
  • Recent ID photographs
  • For transferees, records from the previous school
  • An entrance examination or interview for selective programmes

Our enrollment requirements guide and senior high school enrollment guide have the full checklists, and how to choose a school sets out a decision framework. If cost is the binding constraint, weigh the trade-offs in private versus public and browse affordable colleges.

Disclaimer: licensure figures describe the cycles named and change every examination period. Where this page says a school publishes no fee schedule, that means we could not find one it publishes, not that the school has no fees. Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best private schools in Baguio?

On published licensure results, [Saint Louis University](/school/saint-louis-university) is the strongest and it is not close. It passed all 242 of its examinees in the November 2025 Nurses Licensure Examination, and it placed fourth in the 51-to-100 bracket of the 2025 Bar Examinations at 83.33%, rising to 97.14% among first-time takers. [University of the Cordilleras](/school/university-of-the-cordilleras), [University of Baguio](/school/university-of-baguio) and [Baguio Central University](/school/baguio-central-university) are the other established private universities.

How much is tuition at private schools in Baguio?

No Baguio private school publishes a schedule of fees we could find. This page previously gave annual tuition tiers for the whole city and per-university ranges. None was traceable to a school document, so all of it has been removed. Ask each registrar for the current schedule in writing.

Do I still choose a senior high strand in Baguio?

Not for Grade 11. DepEd Order No. 017, s. 2026 removed the strand layer, leaving two tracks, Academic and Technical-Professional, with five clusters of electives inside the Academic Track. Grade 12 learners in non-pilot schools during SY 2026-2027 are the last cohort on STEM, ABM, HUMSS and GAS. Ask a Baguio school which electives it will actually run, not which strands it offers.

What is UC Baguio?

The University of the Cordilleras, a long-established private university in Baguio. Its own website was showing a maintenance page when we checked, so programme and fee details should come from its admissions office directly rather than from any third-party summary.

Can a voucher reduce private senior high school cost in Baguio?

Yes, and Baguio is not NCR, so the amount differs. Section 48 and Table 13 of DepEd Order No. 011, s. 2026 set the maximum at PHP 20,000 a year in highly urbanised cities outside NCR and PHP 17,500 elsewhere for Categories A, B and C, with Categories D and E at PHP 16,000 and PHP 14,000. The school is paid the lower of its total fees or the cap.

What should out-of-town families budget for beyond tuition?

Boarding, food, transport and utilities for the whole school year, and these frequently rival tuition. We previously printed monthly cost ranges for dorms, boarding houses and apartments. Those were estimates and have been removed. Visit in person, get quoted rents in writing, and remember that Baguio is hilly, so proximity to campus is worth paying for.
