Western Institute of Technology

Western Institute of Technology (WIT) is a private, non-profit engineering-focused college on Luna Street in La Paz, Iloilo City. A corporation led by engineer Ricardo T. Salas established WIT in 1962, and the school officially opened in 1964 to meet demand for skilled engineering manpower in Western Visayas. It began with Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering plus a two-year BS Chemistry program, adding Education in 1966 and later expanding into Marine Engineering, Liberal Arts, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Hotel and Restaurant Management, and Political Science, along with graduate programs. WIT also offers Senior High School. The college is a member of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) in Region VI, with several programs holding PACUCOA accreditation. WIT is known in Iloilo as one of the region's established engineering schools, with graduates working across the Philippines and abroad. The institution is currently led by Richard Kenneth F. Salas III as president.
