University of the Visayas (UV) is a private university headquartered at the corner of Colon and D. Jakosalem Streets in downtown Cebu City, founded in 1919 as the first school in Cebu province to attain university status. The Main Campus houses most of UV's colleges, administrative offices and laboratories, and the university also operates satellite campuses in Mandaue, Compostela, Danao, Pardo, Minglanilla, Toledo and Dalaguete. UV offers a full range of levels from Kindergarten through graduate school. Its Senior High School offers General Academic Strand (GAS), Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) under the Academic Track, plus Information and Communications Technology and Home Economics under the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Track, and an Arts and Design track. The university has been granted Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and holds Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) recognition for several programs, including Pharmacy and Marine Transportation. UV also holds ISO 21001:2018 certification for educational organizations management. The university runs scholarship programs, including partnerships with the Moirasia Foundation and the Cebu Teacher Scholarship Program, and offers a tuition installment plan called Bukas.

I’m very thankful to that school because UV was the only one that accepted me as a transferee back in 2019. Before I inquired at UV, I tried applying to other schools—both private and state universities—but none of them accepted me. Only UV did, without any hesitation. The scholarship coordinator even helped me transfer my UniFAST to UV and personally accompanied me, along with Sir Dagasdas, to the CHED office to process it, since my previous school told me that my UniFAST couldn’t be transferred to another school.

I’m very disappointed with how this school handles concerns regarding refunds. The contact person I was given does not respond, and I’ve sent multiple emails with no reply. I tried reaching out several times, but there was no clear communication or assistance. I’ve also been to the office before, but even then, no one could give me a proper explanation as to why my payment can’t be refunded. I’m sharing this because I believe students and parents deserve transparency and proper customer service, especially when it comes to financial matters.
