University Of The Philippines Visayas - Iloilo City

The University of the Philippines Visayas (UP Visayas) Iloilo City campus is the original site of UP's presence in Iloilo, tracing back to the University of the Philippines Iloilo College, which began operating in July 1947 after the Iloilo municipal government authorized a UP branch in the city in December 1945. It gained full college status in 1954 as UP College Iloilo before UP Visayas was established as the University of the Philippines System's constituent university for the region, with campuses in Iloilo City, Miagao, and an extension in Pandan, Antique. The Iloilo City campus today houses the College of Management, the Graduate Program Office, and the University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo (UPHSI), a laboratory high school under UP Visayas' Division of Professional Education that prepares students for UP admission. Other UP Visayas units, including fisheries, marine science, and most of the College of Arts and Sciences, are based at the larger Miagao campus. As a state university, admission is through the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT), and undergraduate tuition is free for qualified Filipino students under Republic Act 10931.
