University of the Assumption

University of the Assumption (UA) is a private Catholic university in Unisite Subdivision, Barangay Del Pilar, San Fernando City, Pampanga, described as the first Archdiocesan Catholic university in the Philippines and in Asia. It was founded on January 12, 1963 by Bishop Emilio A. Cinense and Msgr. Pedro D. Puno as Assumption Junior College with 275 students, relocated to its current campus and was renamed Assumption College of Pampanga in 1965, and was granted university status on March 29, 1980. UA offers Junior and Senior Kindergarten, Grade School (Grades 1-6), Junior High School, Senior High School, college, and graduate programs. Several of its programs, including Liberal Arts, Education, Commerce, Accountancy, Nursing, Information Technology, and its basic education department, hold PAASCU accreditation, with programs such as BS Information Technology carrying PAASCU Level II re-accreditation. UA organizes its mission around three pillars it calls BIASA (academic excellence), MAGANACA (moral uprightness), and MAYAP (social responsibility).
