The University of Mindanao (UM) is the largest private, non-sectarian university in Mindanao, headquartered on Bolton Street in Davao City. It opened to the public as Mindanao Colleges in July 1946, starting with 13 teachers, 381 students, and four rented rooms, with a mission to provide tertiary education access to the indigenous peoples and settlers of Mindanao. It was chartered as the University of Mindanao, Inc. on December 21, 1966, the first private non-sectarian university in the region. UM has since expanded to ten branches across thirteen campuses in Southern Mindanao, with four campuses in Davao City alone: the Main Campus along Bolton and Bonifacio Streets, the Matina-Ma-a Campus, and technical school campuses in Sta. Ana Avenue and Toril. The Commission on Higher Education has granted UM Autonomous Status and recognized its Business Administration, Criminology, and Teacher Education programs as Centers of Excellence, with Accountancy, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology as Centers of Development; the university also carries 38 PACUCOA-accredited programs. Enrollment across the university system is roughly 78,000 students, including about 73,000 undergraduates.

This "university" contains some of the worst, most egotistical profs, especially business profs. Not to mention that if you're enrolled in Bolton Campus, your PE and NSTP classes would be all the way to the Matina Campus which is ridiculous. The school also gives you probably all of the General Education subjects even though so many of them are irrelevant. You'll be having 27-30+ credits each semester for 1st to 3rd year due to this nonsense.

If I die this year it's because of YOU!!!!!! UM. I spend 3 years on my research and giving grades requires so much effort and time. I can't enroll on my OJT because of you. Worst. I won't recommend this school. If you cannot accommodate all the students then stop accepting so much.. Teachers giving assurance that everything is fine but then when it's time to the actual scene there's so much problem. Then sisi nyo sa students.. CBAE!!!!!
