Tarlac State University (TSU)

Tarlac State University (TSU) is a public state university in Tarlac City, Tarlac, with origins tracing to a 1906 vocational trade school that became the Tarlac School of Arts and Trades and later the Tarlac College of Technology. It was converted into a state university by Republic Act 6764, signed by President Corazon Aquino in 1989. TSU operates ten colleges, including a School of Law, offering more than 60 degree programs in fields such as engineering, education, business, criminal justice, and architecture, and enrolled roughly 25,000 students as of 2024. As a state university, undergraduate tuition is free for qualified Filipino students under Republic Act 10931 (Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act). TSU holds CHED Level III-A institutional status and Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) accreditation across many programs. The TSU Laboratory School, its basic-education unit on the main Romulo Boulevard campus, offers Senior High School under the STEM strand. The university is regularly ranked among the top-performing state universities in Central Luzon and has produced licensure examination topnotchers in fields including criminology, nursing, engineering, and accountancy.
