Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) - Main Campus is a state university on Narciso Street in Surigao City. It traces its origin to 1969 as the Surigao del Norte School of Arts and Trades. Republic Act 8650, signed on June 5, 1998, merged it with the Malimono School of Fisheries to form Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT). Republic Act 10600, signed June 4, 2013, authorized its conversion into a university, and the conversion to Surigao del Norte State University was completed on June 23, 2022, after SSCT met CHED's requirements. Beyond the Surigao City main campus, SNSU operates extension campuses in Del Carmen, Malimono, and Mainit. The university's academic mandate spans agriculture, fisheries, engineering, forestry, industrial technology, education, law, medicine and other health-related programs, information technology, and arts and sciences, alongside research and extension services for the province.
