St. Paul University Surigao

St. Paul University Surigao (SPUS) is a private Catholic university in Surigao City, founded in 1906 by Spanish Benedictine missionaries as a Cartilla school that grew into the Escuela Catolica de San Nicolas, later run by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart as San Nicolas School before being renamed St. Paul University Surigao in 2000. It is recognized as the first university in the Caraga region. SPUS has two campuses in Surigao City: the main campus houses the college and graduate school, while the satellite campus at Barangay Luna houses the elementary and high school departments. The university offers Integrated Basic Education from elementary through senior high school, plus undergraduate and graduate programs in Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Teacher Education, Business Administration, Criminology, Nursing, and Mining Engineering. Its programs hold PAASCU Level II accreditation for Education, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Criminology, and Integrated Basic Education, and PACUCOA Level I accreditation for several college and graduate programs. SPUS also holds ISO 9001:2015 certification.
