Saint Joseph Institute of Technology

Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT) is a private, non-profit technical-vocational and higher education institution in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, founded in 1971 by Dr. Nicomedes A. Salas as a small vocational-technical school. It has since grown into a multi-campus institution under the continued leadership of co-founder Dr. Leticia C. Salas. Its Basic Education Department covers a play-centered preschool program, Elementary (Grades 1-6), and Junior High School (Grades 7-10), in addition to a separate Senior High School program. At the tertiary level, SJIT offers programs across six colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business and Information Technology, Criminal Justice Education, Education, Engineering and Architecture, and Maritime Studies, along with a Maritime Training Center and a Graduate School. The school holds ISO 21001:2018 certification for its educational organization management system and carries PACUCOA and ACSCU accreditation for select programs, with institutional recognition from the Commission on Higher Education. SJIT emphasizes practical, career-oriented education aimed at producing graduates who are, in the school's words, "ready to perform in the real world."
