PHINMA University of Iloilo (UI) is a private university on Rizal Street in Iloilo City, founded in June 1947 by Fernando H. Lopez, later Vice President of the Philippines and then mayor of Iloilo City, initially as Iloilo City Colleges. Classes began in quonset huts with bamboo walls and mud floors. The school was granted university status on December 17, 1968, becoming the Philippines' 32nd university, and was acquired by the PHINMA Education Network in 2008-2009, joining sister schools such as PHINMA Araullo University and PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College. UI runs a full K-12 basic education program — preschool, grade school, junior high and senior high school, with Academic strands (STEM, ABM, HUMSS, GAS), Technical-Vocational-Livelihood strands (Home Economics, Industrial Arts, ICT) and an Arts and Design track — alongside ten colleges covering Business and Accountancy, Engineering, Education, Criminal Justice, Information Technology, Maritime Education, Tourism and Hospitality Management, Allied Health Sciences, and Arts and Sciences, plus a Graduate School. Several programs hold PAASCU Level II accreditation. UI maintains a teaching affiliation with The Medical City-Iloilo for clinical training.

Very bad experience at the Registrar’s Office. The line was completely disorganized, and I had an issue with someone behind me who tried to cut in. That person became hysterical, and instead of addressing the problem properly, I was ganged up on. The husband even told me not to answer back—excuse me, who are you to tell me I can’t respond? His wife was the one who shouted first and asked, “What’s your problem?”—so I answered. How is that wrong? Even when I tried to keep quiet to avoid further conflict, they cornered me. I can’t imagine people acting this way. To the Registrar’s Office: lesson learned—please manage the lines better. What’s the point of having barriers if they don’t work? Proper order and fairness should be enforced. And to those who think cutting in line is a “small matter,” it’s not. It reflects character. Being older doesn’t excuse bad behavior. For you it may be a small thing, but to those who respect the rules, it means a lot.

This school has one of THE WORST management. Registration is done offline with 8 hours waiting, and they still refuse to use proper online systems. Classroom has no ventilation or AC, it feels like a boiling sauna. Schedules are inhumane, from dawn to 8PM. Grading feels unfair and they even charge if you fail a test. Extremely money-hungry completely unmanageable, and students are required to attend school DESPITE TYPHOON. NO REGARDS FOR SAFETY AT ALL.

Unprofessional registrar and staff! This is school is still living from stone age. Very slow process regarding with TOR and other documents. They will asked you to contact them through phone or email after they have your hard earned money, but they will never ever answer. Beware!

Extremely slow response when it comes to module distribution. Exam will be on the end of month yet,not everyone has been given their modules. Some teachers are not that approachable as well and they will just refer you to someone else. You can't get any good response from any of them! 🤦‍♀️ So unorganized!
