A respectable and disciplined place with future military officials who are attentive and polite! A ceremonial retirement march was the highlight of our day when we visited a few days ago. ✓ It is recommended to wear closed shoes when visiting and secure your driver's license. ✓ Do not walk on the grass when visiting the air crafts even as one admires them. ✓ There is a cafeteria further within the place. The food options have surprised me—so many chocolates, candies and junk food/chips—ahem... Barely any vegetable or healthy options with the meals so perhaps it's best to have eaten before coming here. Proper restaurants are a bit far so eating outside is a better option. ✓ There are old battle tanks, air crafts, memorial plaques of noble soldiers, and more!
Philippine Military Academy (PMA)
The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is the service academy of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, located at Fort General Gregorio del Pilar in Loakan, Baguio City, on a 373-hectare compound. It was formally established on December 21, 1936 through the National Defense Act (Commonwealth Act No. 1), though it traces its lineage to the Academia Militar founded in Malolos, Bulacan on October 25, 1898, and to a Philippine Constabulary officers' school established in Intramuros, Manila in 1905, which relocated to Baguio in 1908. PMA trains cadet candidates through a four-year program covering the academic, military, physical, character, and leadership domains, conferring a Bachelor of Science degree upon graduation; women have been admitted since 1993 under RA 7192. The Commission on Higher Education recognizes PMA as a Special Public Higher Educational Institution, and it has maintained ISO 9001:2015 certification for its academic quality management system since 2013. Entry is highly competitive: recent classes admitted only a few hundred cadets out of tens of thousands of applicants. As a government service academy, cadets pay no tuition and receive a monthly allowance, in exchange for a service obligation with the AFP after graduation.

The cadets seem accustomed to visitors; they were polite and greeted us with “good morning” and “good afternoon.” It’s a scenic mix of nature and history, especially if you take the time to read the signages around the grounds. The greenery is well maintained, and it’s a pleasant place to observe the many noticeably healthy crows in the area. Be aware that the guards at the entrance will stop you if you’re not wearing appropriate footwear.
DEC 2025: We always visit the PMA Grounds whenever we're in Baguio, though we've yet to see the Silent Drill or the Cadettes' formation. It's a great spot for walking and viewing military aircraft—I only wish they had a full-size battleship or rideable armored personnel vehicles. There are other parks along the way, so next time we'll stop by those before reaching the main parking area, as the kids and elderly often tire out after walking the main grounds. Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is definitely a checklist destination when visiting Baguio. My first visit was about three decades ago, and I’ve been coming back from time to time ever since. The place remains peaceful and blissful, with its well-maintained grounds, rich history, and refreshing atmosphere. It’s a great spot for reflection, leisurely walks, and appreciating the discipline and pride of the institution. Always worth a visit.
