Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) is a public state university in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, established on July 12, 1968 under Republic Act 5363 as a constituent unit of the Mindanao State University system. Its roots trace to Iligan City High School, founded in 1946, which became the Northern Mindanao Institute of Technology in 1965 before its integration into MSU. MSU-IIT enrolls close to 9,000 students, including about 8,400 undergraduates. The university is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence in seven program areas, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Teacher Education, Mechanical Engineering, and Electronics Engineering, and as a Center of Development in eleven more, including Information Technology and Marine Science. As a state university, undergraduate tuition is free for qualified Filipino students under Republic Act 10931. MSU-IIT's Integrated Developmental School, the College of Education's laboratory school, offers Senior High School under the STEM, ABM, and HUMSS strands. MSU-IIT has a special mandate to integrate Mindanao's Muslim and Lumad communities into the mainstream of national life and is considered one of the leading science and engineering universities in Mindanao.

Great campus with outstanding, welcoming faculty and good students. I gave some seminars here recently and was really impressed with the atmosphere of the place. The students seem to live an active university life and you can see many of them involved in extracurricular activities even into the evening. The Fablab and Institute for Peace and Development are really great too.

This is a state university located in Northern Mindanao that caters the academic needs of mostly Mindanao residents. You need not go to private and expensive schools, nor go to Manila or Cebu to enroll. MSU-IIT is a center of excellence for science, mathematics and education/teaching courses, not to forget the excellent programs for engineering, physics, IT and various language courses, with excellent educational facilities, tools and equipment. This university is a hidden secret/treasure of Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte, which is a vibrant, first class, culturally diverse city. For parents/students who want to avail of affordable but excellent academic/educational/programs, this is institution to go to!
