Mindanao Polytechnic College (MPC) is a private college in General Santos City, founded in February 1980 by Capt. Arturo A. Aguilar, a mariner and former Port of General Santos harbor pilot, and his wife Susan R. Aguilar. It was the first maritime school in the Soccsksargen area. Originally named Mindanao Polytechnic School, it moved to its current three-hectare campus at Crossing Makar in June 1981 and was renamed Mindanao Polytechnic College in 1984. MPC offers Senior High School and college programs, with its maritime degrees, Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE), recognized by CHED and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) as a Maritime Higher Education Institution. It also offers non-maritime programs including Information Technology, Criminology, Business Administration, Customs Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, and Mechanical Engineering. MPC remains the only maritime school in General Santos City, producing graduates who have gone on to careers in seafaring and customs administration since the 1980s.
