Maria Montessori International School - Talamban Campus

Maria Montessori International School (MMIS) - Talamban Campus is a Montessori school in Barangay San Jose, Talamban, Cebu City. It traces its founding to June 1984, when Corazon Teves Villamor opened Maria Montessori Children's House in a one-room structure along Fuente Osmena Road with 27 nursery pupils. The school moved to a Gorordo Avenue campus in 1988 with complete preschool and grade school departments, added a high school program in the 1990s, and opened the Talamban campus in 2001. It was renamed Maria Montessori International School in 2007 and is recognized as the pioneer of Montessori education in Cebu City. The Talamban campus now offers Preschool (Playgroup, Nursery, Pre-Kinder, Kindergarten), Elementary, Junior High School, and Senior High School, following an "Open Classroom" Montessori approach organized into Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Cultural Activities learning areas, with English as the medium of instruction. Its basic education program holds PAASCU Level II accreditation, initially granted in February 2019 and valid through May 2028.
