Iloilo Sun Yat Sen High School
Iloilo Sun Yat Sen High School, known locally as Tiongsan, is a private Chinese-Filipino school on Mapa Street in Iloilo City Proper, established on November 12, 1925 by the local Filipino-Cantonese Chinese community to honor Sun Yat-sen. It opened with just 28 students, closed during the Japanese occupation in December 1941, and reopened in May 1945 with 370 students; enrollment later grew to over 1,000 by 1973. The school offers a trilingual curriculum combining Chinese-language instruction with the standard Philippine curriculum in English and Filipino, from pre-nursery through Grade 12. In 1962 it ranked first among private and public schools in Western Visayas, and 14th nationally, on national high school examinations.
