PRC License Renewal 2026: Online Process and Requirements

TL;DR: You renew your PRC licence through the LERIS portal (online.prc.gov.ph), then claim the printed card at a PRC office or have it couriered. The fee is the annual registration fee: PHP 450 for a three-year renewal in a baccalaureate profession, PHP 420 for non-baccalaureate, per PRC's 2026 fee schedule — plus arrears and a surcharge if you are late. The CPD requirement is 15 credit units for most professions, and PRC is still accepting a CPD Undertaking in place of the units until 31 December 2026.

Introduction

Every licensed professional in the Philippines has to renew their Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) card, and the card is renewable every three years. Let it lapse and you are practising on an expired licence, which is a matter for your own Professional Regulatory Board.

Most of the work now happens online, through the PRC LERIS (Licensure Examination and Registration Information System) portal, with a single office visit to submit the form and collect the card. This guide walks through the 2026 process, and every figure in it — fees, processing time, CPD units — is traced to a PRC issuance rather than to the numbers that circulate in blog round-ups. Several of those numbers are years out of date.

When to Renew Your PRC License

The Professional Identification Card (PIC) "is renewable every three (3) years upon compliance with the requirements set by law" — that wording comes from PRC Resolution No. 2019-1146, which amended Section 3.27 of the CPD Act IRR. Your expiry date is printed on the card and shown in your LERIS account.

Key timing guidelines:

• You can file once your PIC has expired or will expire in less than one (1) year. PRC's 2026 Citizens Charter states this as the eligibility rule for the renewal transaction, so there is no need to wait until the month of expiry.
• The annual registration fee is charged by year, not by filing date. PRC's fee schedule works from the year you last paid, so filing early does not cost you validity.
• Late renewal is possible, but you pay the annual registration fee for every unpaid year plus a surcharge. See the fee section below.

Online Renewal Process: Step-by-Step

The PRC LERIS portal (online.prc.gov.ph) is the platform for renewal. The steps below follow PRC's own LERIS Online Step-by-Step Procedure.

Step 1: Create or Log Into Your LERIS Account

If you do not have an account yet, have these ready before you start: your email address, mobile number, personal data including your date of graduation, an ID photo in .jpg format, and a valid ID card.

1. Go to online.prc.gov.ph, read the terms of service and click through to registration
2. Enter your name, gender, civil status, birth date, email address and a password of at least six characters using letters, numbers and special characters
3. Log in — LERIS emails you a one-time PIN, which you enter to validate the account
4. Fill in your personal information: citizenship, birthplace, address, contact numbers, parents' names, school attended, course, date of graduation and valid ID details
5. Upload your ID photo following the on-screen photo requirements

If you already have an account, log in with your email address and password and clear the CAPTCHA.

Step 2: Select the Renewal Transaction

1. Click to select a transaction and open the Renewal tab
2. Select your profession
3. Input your licence number
4. Click to confirm the selection

Step 3: Choose Pick-Up or Shipping, and Set Your Appointment

LERIS asks whether you want the printed card shipped:

• For pick-up: answer No, select your preferred PRC regional office, then click Next.
• For shipping: answer Yes, click Next, and enter your shipping details. Shipping is confirmed as a separate payment step with its own reference number.

You can change an appointment date later from the same screen, but the portal asks you to give a reason.

Step 4: Pay the Fee

PRC's LERIS guide shows four payment options on the portal:

• BancNet / Land Bank / GCash
• PRC Cashier — you get a reference number and pay in person at your selected appointment place
• PayMaya (Maya)
• Credit or debit card — Mastercard, Visa, JCB

Keep your payment confirmation or reference number — you will need it.

Step 5: Submit and Print the Application Form

Click the submit application button, then print or save the system-generated application form. This form, not a receipt, is what you present at the PRC window.

Step 6: Bring Your CPD Proof

There is no CPD upload step in the renewal transaction. PRC validates your attendance through the CPD Accreditation System (CPDAS), and its 2026 Citizens Charter accepts screenshots from your CPDAS account showing your earned credit units. If you cannot show the units, you sign the CPD Undertaking instead — see the CPD section below.

Step 7: Claim Your New PRC ID Card

• Two options at filing: pick up the printed card at the PRC office you selected, or choose the shipping option and enter your delivery details.
• At the counter, PRC's 2026 Citizens Charter allots 30 minutes to receive, verify and evaluate your documents and 5 minutes to print and release the card — 40 minutes total for the transaction, which PRC classifies as "Simple".
• For delivery, PRC does not publish a fixed turnaround; the schedule follows its service agreement with the courier.
• The electronic PIC (e-PIC) is recognised by PRC alongside the printed card — for example, a registered professional acting as your representative may present a valid PIC or e-PIC.

Walk-In Renewal Process

Even the "walk-in" route starts online — the application form is generated through online.prc.gov.ph, and the office visit is where you submit it and claim the card. PRC's 2026 Citizens Charter describes three client steps:

1. Log in to LERIS, secure an appointment date and place, and select a payment option (5 minutes).
2. Present the proof of the system-generated application form and your other documentary requirements at the designated window, where staff receive, verify and evaluate them (30 minutes).
3. Receive the valid Professional Identification Card and sign the releasing log-sheet (5 minutes).

Operating hours for the Licensure and Registration Division are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Standard requirements

Situational requirements

PRC separately lists professions that must submit an updated certificate of good standing from their Accredited Professional Organization, including aeronautical engineers, agriculturists, agricultural and biosystems engineers, architects, customs brokers, electrical and electronics practitioners, geodetic engineers, guidance counsellors, environmental planners, interior designers, landscape architects, librarians, psychologists and psychometricians, real estate practitioners and respiratory therapists.

Renewal Fees

There is no separate "renewal fee" or "ID card fee" for a PIC renewal. PRC's 2026 Citizens Charter records the standard fee for the transaction as None, and the amount you actually pay is the Annual Registration Fee (ARF) taken from PRC's published renewal fee schedule for 2026. The ARF is charged per year, and the schedule works from the year you last paid.

Each row of the schedule runs from the year you last paid through 2029, so a renewer who is up to date pays for three years while a late one pays for the missed years as well.

The schedule also carries this note: an additional surcharge of PHP 30.00 (20% of the ARF) for baccalaureate professions, or PHP 28.00 for non-baccalaureate, is imposed twenty days after your birth month.

If you choose courier delivery of the printed card, PRC does not publish that charge in the fee schedule — it is set under its service agreement with the courier. Verify the exact assessment in LERIS before you pay.

CPD Requirements by Profession

Continuing Professional Development is a mandatory requirement for PIC renewal under Republic Act No. 10912 (CPD Act of 2016). The figures you may still see quoted elsewhere — 45, 60 or 120 units — come from PRC's 2018 matrix, which was overtaken the following year.

PRC Resolution No. 2019-1146 amended the CPD Act IRR and, in Section 10.2(c), directed that during the transition period "the various CPD Councils shall reduce the required CPD credit units to a minimum, which shall not be more than fifteen (15), as provided for under applicable laws." Each Professional Regulatory Board and its CPD Council still sets its own figure within that ceiling, and PRC publishes the resulting per-profession table as Table 1 of its CPD FAQs.

Senior citizens and PWDs are not exempt — Table 1 assigns them reduced units instead, and the reduction differs by profession and age band (for example 10 units for architects and civil engineers, 12 for registered medical technologists, 5 for pharmacists). Chemists aged 60 and above may instead submit a brief narration of their professional work experience.

Check the row for your own profession in PRC's CPD FAQs rather than assuming. That document, dated 1 February 2024, is the most recent version of the table PRC publishes.

Sources of CPD Credit

Section 5, Article II of RA 10912 lists the nature of CPD programs as including, but not limited to, formal learning, non-formal learning, informal learning, self-directed learning, online learning activities, and professional work experience. Non-formal learning — seminars, conventions, workshops, training programs and webinars run by PRC-accredited providers — has been the main route in practice, which PRC itself acknowledged when it flagged the cost and accessibility problems that led to the undertaking extensions.

PRC Resolution No. 2165 (s. 2026) now sets revised guidelines for claiming credit from self-directed learning, professional work experience and informal learning, with transmutation tables that can award up to 15 credit units. PRC has said full implementation of the CPD Program begins January 2027.

Two rules in PRC's CPD FAQs decide how you are allowed to assemble the units, and both work in your favour if you know them:

• You do not have to spread units across categories. Answering the question on major areas of CPD activities, PRC states that "compliance with the required CPD credit units per Major Area of CPD Activities is hereby suspended" and that professionals may earn credit units from any of the major areas during the transition period. Earn all 15 in whichever area is available to you.
• Self-directed learning is capped at 30 per cent. Only 30% of the required units per compliance period may be earned through SDL, and PRC gives the worked example itself: for the required 15 credit units, only 5 can come from SDL. Any excess is not carried over to the next compliance period. The other 10 have to come from accredited activities, so do not build a plan that leans entirely on self-study.

If You Cannot Complete the Units

PRC Resolution No. 2200 (s. 2026), approved 22 June 2026, extends the acceptance of the CPD Undertaking for PIC renewal until 31 December 2026. The undertaking is built into the renewal application: you sign it, renew, and complete the units in the next compliance period. It is not a waiver of the CPD requirement.

Who Is Not Covered

Under Section 10.2 of Resolution No. 2019-1146, two groups are outside the CPD requirement during the transition period:

• Professionals working overseas — they present an Overseas Employment Certificate or equivalent proof instead.
• Newly licensed professionals, for the first renewal cycle after obtaining their license.

The transition does not cover professionals whose own Professional Regulatory Law requires a specific number of CPD credit units for renewal, or who intend to practise in a country covered by an agreement such as an ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement where CPD is a recognition and eligibility requirement.

PRC Regional Offices

LERIS asks you to select your preferred PRC regional office when you set your appointment, so you are not tied to where you first registered. PRC offices are organised by region rather than by city name — the NCR office, for example, is at ETON Centris in Quezon City, not at the central office.

Addresses change; check the official directory rather than a third-party list before travelling.

Common Issues and How to Resolve Them

Issue 1: Cannot Log Into LERIS Portal

Solution: Reset your password using the "Forgot Password" link, and make sure you are using the PRC licence number actually linked to your account. If that does not clear it, PRC's 2026 Citizens Charter gives the PRC Helpdesk number as 8736-2253 and the Anti-Red Tape Unit email as arta@prc.gov.ph; feedback and complaints can also be lodged at https://crms.prc.gov.ph/feedbackform. CPD-specific queries go to cpdd@prc.gov.ph.

Issue 2: Insufficient CPD Units

Solution: Until 31 December 2026, PRC accepts a signed CPD Undertaking in place of the units, under Resolution No. 2200 (s. 2026) — you renew now and complete the units in the next compliance period. That is a reprieve, not a waiver, and PRC has said full implementation of the CPD Program begins January 2027. Earn the units through accredited providers, or claim credit for self-directed learning, professional work experience and informal learning under Resolution No. 2165 (s. 2026).

Issue 3: Name Discrepancy (Marriage, Correction)

Solution: Correcting your name or other personal data is its own PRC transaction, not something you fix inside the renewal form. PRC publishes a Petition for Updating of Professional Data/Record (form PRD-23) for this, and the replacement card that follows an approved petition is handled as a PIC replacement. Sort the record first, then renew.

Issue 4: Lost PRC ID Card

Solution: Replacement is a separate transaction from renewal, not something bolted onto it. Log in to LERIS to generate the Action Sheet, secure an appointment and pay the PHP 250.00 replacement fee, then present a screenshot of the Action Sheet together with your Affidavit of Loss (or the damaged card) at the designated window. PRC allots 40 minutes in total, the same as a renewal.

Issue 5: Expired License (Late Renewal)

Solution: You can still renew an expired card. PRC's 2026 renewal fee schedule does not cut you off at any point — it simply bills the annual registration fee for every unpaid year, plus a surcharge. The oldest row in the schedule is a professional who last paid in 1978. What PRC publishes for late renewal is the fee assessment, and nothing more; the eligibility line in the Citizens Charter is only that your PIC "is already expired or will expire in less than one (1) year".

Be sceptical of claims circulating online that an expiry of more than five years triggers a mandatory refresher course. No PRC issuance we could find says that, and the 2026 Citizens Charter attaches no extra requirement to a long-expired card. Individual Professional Regulatory Boards can impose their own conditions, so confirm with your board rather than with a blog.

Issue 6: Payment Not Reflected in LERIS

Solution: PRC does not publish a posting time for payments, so do not treat any figure you read online as a deadline. Keep the reference number, give it a working day, then raise it — the LERIS guide routes payment concerns to Land Bank at customercare@mail.landbank.com, and PRC's own helpdesk is on 8736-2253.

Issue 7: PRC Website or LERIS Portal Down

Solution: The PRC website occasionally experiences downtime, especially during peak filing periods. Try again during off-peak hours (early morning or late afternoon). If the issue persists for more than 24 hours, check PRC's official Facebook page for announcements about system maintenance.

Late Renewal Costs

PRC does not publish a table of "penalties" for late renewal. What it publishes is the fee schedule, and the cost of being late is visible in it directly: the annual registration fee for every year you did not pay, plus the surcharge. The figures in the Renewal Fees section above are taken straight from that schedule.

Two things are worth naming plainly:

• The surcharge is small relative to the arrears. A professional four years behind pays PHP 750.00 in arrears against a PHP 60.00 surcharge. The cost of delay is the back years, not the penalty.
• Practising on an expired PIC is a separate matter. RA 8981, the PRC Modernization Act, does not set a penalty for holding an expired card; the sanctions for unauthorised practice sit in each profession's own regulatory law. If your card has lapsed, stop practising and renew rather than trying to work out which statute applies to you.

Tips for a Smooth Renewal

• Track your CPD units throughout the 3-year cycle — do not wait until renewal time to scramble for credits. Fifteen units across three years is one or two activities a year.
• Check your credits in CPDAS, not in a folder. PRC validates attendance through the CPD Accreditation System, and a screenshot of your CPDAS account showing earned units is what the counter accepts. Keep the certificates too.
• File as soon as you are inside the one-year window. PRC accepts an application once the card has expired or will expire in less than a year, so there is nothing to gain by waiting.
• Do the LERIS steps at home. Even a counter visit needs the system-generated application form, an appointment and a payment option chosen in advance.
• Keep your LERIS account credentials secure. Your PRC LERIS account contains sensitive professional information.
• Update your contact information in LERIS whenever it changes — especially your email and phone number — so you receive renewal reminders and processing updates.
• Check PRC social media (Facebook: Professional Regulation Commission) for announcements about system updates, schedule changes, and new requirements.

Final Thoughts

PRC licence renewal is a straightforward process if you plan ahead. The two numbers that matter are 15 CPD credit units and PHP 450 (or PHP 420) for a three-year renewal, and both come from PRC's own documents rather than from the inflated figures still circulating on the web. If you are short on units, the CPD Undertaking buys you until the end of 2026, but no further.
